A very unusual and possibly unique version of HMS Vanguard. A model in diecast metal in 1/1200 scale by Triang Minic made in the early 1960s, from the original 'built in Britain' series. The model is in original grey finish, with just a few small chips to paint, mainly near the waterline and still looks very good overall, missing masts and instead of the 15" twin turrets as normal, the model has 4 x triple 6" turrets as used on the Swiftsure class cruisers.
I have never seen this before and can only assume it was made right at the end of production in 1965 when perhaps there were no 15" turrets left or that it was a mistake in production. The turrets revolve and are rivetted in position exactly as all Triang turrets are so it certainly looks like a factory job to me and not done by a previous owner. I doubt you will find another and an interesting part of the Triang history.
